Amor Powers is surprisingly down-to-earth, fun to talk to, a contrast from what Carlo imagined her to be.
But who she is remains a very big mystery to Carlo.
He knew that she was a very big client of their bank in Punta Verde but he only knew her name and not what she looks like until he saw her at their bank yesterday.
Things happened so fast.
Her presence interrupted his mundane life.
He was confused.
Not knowing how to find answers, not knowing why her presence caused inexplicable pain to him, he drowned himself in alcohol yesterday until the wee hours of the morning, only to be awakened by his Nanay’s sad news.
But fate may have a hand in this.
Why on earth would the person sitting in the plane beside him be Amor Powers?
He couldn’t explain why but she looked exactly like the woman occupying his dreams, the woman whom he calls in his dreams as Maya dela Rosa.
And why on earth did she intend to accompany him to his home.
Aboard the chopper, Amor was obviously stiff and tense.
Carlo was quick to notice it so he held her hand to calm her.
“I’m sorry but I’m not fond of choppers actually.”
“Don’t worry we will be there soon. We have the best pilot and the the landing area is safe.”
“Thank you too Ms. Powers for spending your precious time to visit my father. I will never forget this.”
“I should be saying sorry for I forced myself into joining you. I am intruding in your private life, the way I see it. I am sorry Mr. Asuncion.”
“No of course not. I don’t see it that way.”
Amor gave him a timid smile.
“Well thank you. And may I request that you just call me Amor since this is a personal and not a business visit? Can I just call you Carlo too?”
Amidst the sad situation he has, Carlo managed to smile because of Amor.
“Sure… Ms… Sure Amor.”
“That’s better Carlo.”
The chopper landed safely in one of the company’s properties near Benguet.
They still have to drive for about an hour to reach Carlo’s place.
Carlo was aware that Amor would be needing stuff for her stay so he decided to drop by the grocery they passed.
He bought some of his and his Nanay’s needs too.
Unusually, Amor picked simple clothes and even toiletries. It was not what he imagined her to be using.
She also decided to change her ‘power’ outfit into one of the clothes she bought so that she won’t attract too much attention.
Her outfit is not suitable for a place like this anyway.
After getting the things she needed, she waited for Carlo who was busy buying the things he would be using for his father’s wake.
They drove for about an hour until they reached a wooden mansion in the middle of a huge property.
Afar, Carlo could already see the crowd in their house.
He could see his father’s coffin in the middle of their house.
He parked his car and was about to help Amor but she dismissed him.
“Don’t Carlo. Please just treat me like an ordinary friend. I don’t want extra attention. This is for your tatay. Go ahead. I will be right behind.”
Then Carlo smiled and darted towards his Nanay Fe.
The moment she heard his car, Nanay Fe excitedly waited for Carlo in the room where his father was laid. It is a tradition not to leave the dead alone so she just waited for her son.
The mother and son hugged each other trying their best to seek comfort for the loss of their most loved, Anastacio.
They had a few exchange of stories about what happened and Carlo went to see his father’s lying body.
Amor decided to give Carlo time to grieve with his mother.
It would be too much intrusion if she would join them now.
She opted to stay behind and talk to some kids in the area.
A gentle yet chilly breeze engulfed her as she did so.
Something felt so familiar.
It’s like it already happened before.
It’s like she knew this place before.
She hugged herself and drew the coat, she bought at the local store, closer to her body.
Her musings were disrupted when she heard Carlo.
“Amor halika na dito.”
She followed him.
“I want you to meet my Nanay Fe. Nay siya po ay isa sa mga kliyente namin sa banko. Si Amor Powers po.”
Amor gave her warm smile and offered her hand to Nanay Fe.
Nanay Fe wasn’t able to return the smile or even take her hand for the moment she saw her, she froze and went pale all of a sudden.
Then in a split second, she fainted.
A/N Thank you for allowing me to do this CarMor story of our fave couple, Maya and Richard.
I appreciate all your comments and suggestions. Sorry if I seldom reply to them. Sagabal ang work minsan, joke! Ill try my best to reply.
I am also not familiar with the traditions of the people of Benguet with their dead so please pardon the erroneous facts here.
Thank you for reading. Good vibes!
